TRES6700 Research Project - Masters Dissertation (2) Campus: South Eveleigh, NSW 2015 Units of Credit: 6 Prerequisite or Corequisite: TRES6600 Research Project - Masters Dissertation (1) EFTSL*: 0.125 Indicative Contact Hours per Week: 3 Tuition Fee See Tuition Fee Schedule Application Date: See Key Dates Unit Overview: Following submission of a satisfactory “Mid-candidature Report”, the students enters the final stage of the research program, TRES6700, which culminates in the submission of the final thesis or dissertation and its successful formal examination by two examiners who are independent of IMC. The indicative length of the thesis will be up to 50,000 words. The external examiners will judge whether the thesis meets the standards expected of an AQF Level 9 Masters (research) degree by demonstrating “an advanced body of knowledge in a range of contexts for research and scholarship and as a pathway for further learning”. Prior to the formal examination of their final thesis, students will complete a Pre-submission Report and presentation to their Research Committee in which they will summarise their research and discuss their findings. The Committee in conducting its review, will adopt the position of prospective examiners in judging whether, or not, the thesis is of a standard suitable to be sent to the external examiners. A final Ethics Report will also be submitted after satisfactory Pre-submission Report and presentation. The external examiners will ultimately judge whether the thesis can be passed, with or without corrections; or whether a “fail” grade is warranted. Following submission of the thesis for formal examination, students should prepare themselves for the likelihood that some further corrections or additions to the thesis may be routinely required. *EFTSL = Equivalent full-time study load
