On 6th April 2009, UNE-TOP held a signing ceremony establishing an International Research Consortium and the official launch the collaboration. The Hon. Hu Shan, Chinese Consul-General in Sydney (Ambassador Ranking) attended and congratulated the event and wished to develop more research cooperation between China and Australia.  The Hon. Henry Tsang, the Parliamentary Secretary of NSW, read out the congratulation message from the Hon. Verity Firth, the NSW Minister for Education. The VIP guests attending the event also included the Hon. Richard Torbay MP, the senior Vice-Chancellor Prof Alan Pettigrew and other senior executives of UNE, the Chinese Counselor Liu Zhiming and Consul Zhu Hao, Principal Dr Minshen Zhu and Director Amen Lee OAM, as well as the scholars attending the International Symposium, Top staff and Top’s business cooperators in Sydney.
