IMC Researcher accepted in prestigious Academic Journal Publications

IMC Researcher, Dr Yining Zhou, has had two recent Academic Journal publications, including one journal article and one book chapter.
1. Article citation: Zhou, Y and Lamberton, G (2020), Teaching double-entry accounting: A simplified scaffolded technique based on cognitive load theory. Journal of Education for Business.
Established in 1928, the journal has enjoyed a long history of reputation for business education research. The journal is indexed in ESCI and Scopus and is ranked as Scopus Q2, and ABDC-C.
Based on cognitive load theory, this paper develops a new teaching technique to analyse and solve some long-standing problems that novice students have encountered in introductory accounting courses. This study shows a successful learning intervention that supports the relevance of Cognitive Load theory to the instructional design of accounting courses.
2. Chapter citation: Zhou, Y (2020), A concept tree of accounting theory. In U.S. Allah (Ed), Concept Mapping and Education, pp.3 - 17. MDPI, Basel, Switzerland.
This book is published by the journal Education Sciences. The chapters are reprints of selected articles which are published in the journal and use concept mapping for education. The journal is indexed in ESCI and Scopus. It is ranked Scopus Q3.
This study contributes to both accounting and concept mapping literature through the depiction of a concept tree based on the accounting theory curriculum, a creative model that graphically interprets the sophisticated system of accounting theories and concepts as well as the complex interrelationships. In teaching practices, this concept tree has attested a potential to promote curriculum development, as evidenced in sequence and cohesion of topics and by being linked meaningfully to exam design.
In addition to Dr Zhou’s achievements, he has also been a reviewer for the Journal of International Education in Business (Scopus Q2; ESCI; ABDC-C) since last November.
