In October, the Academic Learning Team—comprising the Librarian, Perth Learning Facilitator, and English Language Support Officer—hosted a Referencing Workshop tailored specifically for September Intake and Research students across all campuses, both online and onsite.
The session opened with a valuable message from Associate Professor Anil Hargovan, Director of Learning and Teaching, titled “Rules on Responsible and Ethical Use of AI in Assessments at IMC.” The workshop explored the fundamentals of referencing, including why it matters, when to cite, and how to do it correctly.
Students were also introduced to Mendeley, an online referencing manager, and learned how to use it effectively. Student feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with 80% of participants rating the workshop as ‘excellent’ (5/5) and the remaining 20% giving it a ‘good’ rating (4/5). Students reported 1) Got idea about the reference style followed by IMC. 2) Knowing how to use which tools and when. The comments also included “All good, no need for improvement”. “More sessions, I guess!”
