The Committee is established under the delegation of the Board to oversee and provide independent advice on risk management, compliance frameworks, quality assurance, and external accountability requirements.

The Hon Jonathan O’Dea

Jonathan has held a number of senior leadership roles across private and public sectors in Australia. From 2007 to 2023, Mr. O’Dea was a member of the New South Wales (“NSW”) Parliament, serving local constituents and contributing to policy and reform initiatives. Mr. O’Dea also served as Speaker of the NSW Parliament from 2019-2023. Prior to joining the NSW Parliament, he had executive and non-executive director roles in the insurance sector. Before that, he worked as a lawyer.

As Speaker, Jonathan chaired the NSW Legislative Assembly and the NSW Parliament Presiding Officer and Executive Group, and served as an international representative at the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association. Jonathan obtained a Bachelor of Arts and Laws from the University of Sydney, a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from the NSW College of Law, a Master of Laws from the University of Sydney and a Master of Business Administration from Deakin University in Australia. In 2009, he was awarded an Advanced Diploma with Order of Merit from the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He also sits on two other boards and a non-executive director.

Professor Anthony Welch

Anthony Welch is Professor of Education, University of Sydney. Numerous publications address education reforms, principally within Australia and the Asia-Pacific. A consultant to state, national and international agencies, governments, institutions and foundations, particularly in higher education, his project experience includes the ADB project Higher Education in Dynamic Asia, and Higher Education Expert for the Comprehensive Education Sector Review, Myanmar. He directed the ARC project, The Chinese Knowledge Diaspora. His work has been translated into a dozen languages, and he has been Visiting Professor in the USA, UK, Germany, France, Japan, Sweden, Malaysia, Turkey, China, Hong Kong, and mainland China. A Fulbright Scholar, DAAD Scholar and Visiting Professor INRP, Tübitak, Haiwai Mingshi, his recent books include Measuring Up in Higher Education (2021) International Faculty in Asia. (2021) and Education, Change and Society (2022).

Emeritus Professor Dominic Verity

Dominic Verity is an Emeritus Professor of Mathematics and Computer Science at Macquarie University and a Professor in the Mathematical Sciences Institute of the Australian National University. For the past 20 years he has contributed to Macquarie as a research mathematician, as a highly regarded teacher of Computer Science (recognised nationally in 2011 by an ALTC citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning) and in numerous academic management and leadership roles. He served as Director of Postgraduate Programs in the Faculty Executive of Information and Communication Sciences (2001-2007), as Chair of the University Learning and Teaching Committee (2010-2013) and as Chair of Academic Senate and ex-officio member of the Macquarie University Council (2013-2016).

In the early 1980s, Professor Verity started his career as a software developer for the influential British personal computing pioneer Acorn Computers; the company that invented the ARM microprocessor which power nearly all smartphones today. He went on to study at the University of Cambridge (UK) and emerged from that institution in 1992 with a PhD in Pure Mathematics. From 1993-2000 he worked in the investment banking industry, as a mathematical consultant in derivative securities valuation and hedging, as a quantitative analyst in equity derivative for Deutsche Bank Australia and as Head of Equity Derivatives Trading for HSBC Australia.

His research interests lie in the mathematical fields of Homotopy Theory, sometimes known as “rubber sheet geometry,” and Category Theory, a kind of “theory of everything” for pure mathematics. With his collaborator Professor Emily Riehl (John Hopkins University, Baltimore USA) Professor Verity is recognised for developing and popularising model independent and synthetic approaches to ( ∞, 1) – category theory.

Ms Dan AO

Dan Ao’s career spans nearly 16 years in corporate advisory and wealth management, having worked internationally for top tier firms such as Citibank, Morgan Stanley and Ernst & Young. Her diverse background combines extensive experience in Cross-Border Mergers and Acquisitions (M&As), Private Equity and Ultra High Net Worth Wealth Management. She is also an English examiner at University of Cambridge.

Dan holds a Bachelor of Commerce from University of Sydney, a Master of Arts from University of New South Wales, a Graduate Certificate of Australian Migration Law from Australian National University and successfully completed Algorithmic Trading Executive programme from University of Oxford Said Business School.

Dr Le Ma

BCom Macquarie, MFinAn University of New South Wales, PhD University of Sydney

Dr. Le Ma is a Senior Lecturer in the Accounting Discipline Group at the University of Technology Sydney Business School. Her research expertise includes corporate innovation, entrepreneurial financing, business and financial analysis, and the information environment of capital markets. She earned her PhD in Accounting from the University of Sydney in 2017 and has been a visiting scholar at world-leading institutions, including Harvard Business School and MIT Sloan School of Management.

Le teaches business analysis and valuation at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She is committed to impactful research and innovative teaching, bridging academia and practice, and actively engages with industry and government agencies to address business challenges and drive meaningful change.
