This term, the Sydney English Language Support Officer hosted the Coffee and Conversation Club, a relaxed space where students from all levels could come together to practice English, share ideas, and make new friends at IMC.
Each session was designed to be casual but meaningful. We started with a short article to spark ideas, moved into introductions and open discussions, added an English tip, and wrapped up by sharing takeaways. The mix of language practice and friendly conversation created a welcoming atmosphere for everyone.
In Term 2, the club had 42 total participants, with 12 students returning more than once.
Student feedback was very encouraging:
“It’s good, a fun time, and a chance to get to know each other.”
“Really a good job, it encourages the students to learn English.”
“It’s a fun time. I enjoyed the conversation.”
“It’s helpful for students to make connections.”
“It was nice. I hope more students join.”
“Etsuko is nice and she leads the program well. I hope more students do join because it’s nice. Was very good conversation, I appreciate so much! Etsuko is very nice person, I enjoy to talked with her”

We’re excited to see the Coffee and Conversation Club grow and continue to give IMC students the chance to practice English while building lasting connections.
