 Unit Overview:
TMGT608 Managing People at Work introduces students to the principles and practices of managing people effectively in contemporary organisations. Drawing on Human Resource Management, 11th Edition, the unit examines the strategic role of human resource management and its contribution to organisational performance. Key topics include human resource planning, job analysis and design, recruitment and selection, employee development, performance management, remuneration, motivation, employee engagement, workplace health and safety, and employee relations. Students explore how managers respond to workforce diversity, technological change, ethical issues, and changing employment expectations. The unit also considers relevant employment legislation and the responsibilities of managers in creating fair, inclusive, and productive workplaces. Through practical examples and workplace cases, students develop skills in analysing people-management challenges, making informed HR decisions, and applying appropriate management practices across different organisational contexts.
