This subject is a study of the research methods used in business analysis and management research and writing. Students are introduced to quantitative and qualitative approaches to business research, frequently used applied statistics and ethical issues in business research. The qualitative component examines principles and techniques for undertaking, searching, organising, retrieving, analysing and reporting qualitative data. The quantitative component covers understanding basic statistical thinking, the conceptual basis of statistical techniques and the interpretation of data analysis. A strong emphasis will be placed on the logic underlying statistical concepts such as probability, normal distribution, sampling distributions, parameter estimation, and hypothesis testing. A range of data analysis techniques are covered, including t-test, analysis of variance, contingency tables, correlation and regression. Styles of communication used to write a research business report and disseminate the research findings are addressed. |
