Visit from Professor Laurence Boulle, Alternative Dispute Resolution Expert

Sydney City School of Law, on Thursday, 22nd October, welcomed the visit of leading Alternative Dispute Resolution expert Professor Laurence Boulle,  Professor of Law in the Thomas More Academy of Law in North Sydney. According to Dean Eugene Clark, as Sydney City School of Law students advance beyond year one, we will be establishing activities for involvement with other law schools, especially in the Sydney area so that our students engage in friendly competition and enhance their learning of valuable skills such as negotiation, mediation and other dispute resolution methods.

Professor Boulle has made outstanding contributions over a period of almost 3 decades to alternative dispute resolution in the country. This includes teaching, publishing, training, policy work and consultancies. Laurence has also practised as a mediator in several states over the past 20 years. During 2015 Laurence has co-authored a New Zealand edition of his text Mediation: Skills and Techniques (LexisNexis, NZ), written a chapter in a Hong Kong based text on Mediation in Asia and co-authored an article on the negotiation of coal-seam gas arrangements, published in the Journal of Energy and Natural Resources. He also published a chapter in a book on The Rise of BRICS in the Global Political Economy, published by Edward Elgar (UK, 2015).
He serves as a director of the Mediator Standards Board, is on the World Bank Panel of conciliators for investment disputes, and is the current LEADER Fellow for 2014-6. He also does volunteer work for JusticeConnect in Sydney.
