TSTA602 Quantitative Methods for Accounting and Finance

This unit introduces students to key statistical concepts and methods that are widely used in economics, finance, accountancy, marketing and, more generally, business. The unit aims to develop students' abilities to assess and critically analyse financial and economic data and, to utilise the data in making informed and justifiable business decisions. Unit topics include: descriptive statistics; probability distributions point and interval estimation of parameters; hypothesis testing; and simple and multiple regression.
