 Unit Overview:
This unit provides an introduction to the application of big data to auditing and assurance operations through the use of a Business Analytics Framework. It reviews the use of big data in accounting with the most suitable transaction types for streamlining auditing operations. It also provides a grounding in the benefits of big data in an assurance context and introduces big data concepts and tools. The unit reviews the technical elements of storing and accessing unstructured data, data warehousing and selecting big data applications for enhancing audit accuracy and reliability. Big data utilities and audit reporting are examined along with second generation systems, distributed file systems in auditing and several contemporary big data analytics tools commonly used in enterprise operations.
