Unit Overview:

This unit introduces the applied digitalisation techniques to accounting operations by using Tableau and Alteryx software tools to analyse, visualize and process accounting data. It introduces the concepts of digitalisation techniques to accounting data in a workplace setting. The unit analyses the use of data sets, rich and thin analytical models and key analytics. Software applications Tableau and Alteryx are presented and used in the digitalisation of accounting data. This allows students to create dynamic data models, accounting segments and customer groups. The unit will also examine the standardising of unformatted data and the use of fuzzy matching applications as well as accounting stakeholder response modelling. It will provide a practical opportunity to practice the use of automated software applications for accounting. The unit offers an interpretation of publishing accounting dashboards and digitalisation process bottlenecks as well as the resulting load sharing and scope split between departments and organisations using digitalisation in accounting.
